This year’s theme is Wellbeing and reflexology is such a wonderful treatment for improving our health and welfare, and restoring balance to the body. After these last 18 months which all of us may have found challenging, in different ways, it’s a good opportunity to refill your wellbeing.

Getting prepared for the COVID-19 restart…

Behind the scenes I have been busy completing CPD courses on COVID-19 and hygiene practices to keep you all safe when complementary therapists are permitted to return to work.

I shall keep you updated with any further news, hopefully in mid July, and in the meantime thank you so much for all your enquiries, they are much appreciated.

Once I have a return to practice date, I will be sending out information on what to expect at your appointment

Take care, Sharon x

How to stay relaxed during these changing times…

During the various difficulties that Covid-19 has brought to many, insomnia may well be one of them.
Sleep deprivation or a marked change in our sleep pattern may lead to tiredness, low mood, anxiety or depression.

The calming, soothing, balancing and anxiety-reducing benefits of essential oils make aromatherapy very effective for treating insomnia. The most commonly used nervine relaxant essential oil for relieving insomnia is lavender. Clinical trials have found lavender to be effective as a nocturnal sedative for elderly patients with sleeping disorders.
If you dislike the aroma of lavender, other useful essential oils include roman chamomile, bergamot, sweet marjoram, sandalwood, or mandarin.

You can simply add a drop or two of any of these essential oils to your pillow, or add a few drops to water in a vaporiser, or add no more than three drops to a warm (not hot) bath an hour or two before bed time.

Massage of course also promotes relaxation and sleep. We can carry a lot of tension in our back and stomach areas, but often a soothing massage (with any vegetable oil or suitable lotion) on our hands can be sufficient to create a sense of well-being and relaxation.

Avoiding tea, coffee and alcohol in the evening and taking your daily exercise may well help. It may also be worth considering exploring relaxation techniques, meditation and listening to soft music.

Hand Reflexology: A taster session

During this very difficult time we are all experiencing, why not have a look at the hand reflexology videos on the Youtube link to the AoR (Association of Reflexologists) website? You could be providing a bit of family support to each other and it covers stress and tension, aiding sleep etc. Take care all and stay safe. 🌸🌻🌺🌼

Reflexology is based on the principle there are energy zones that run throughout the body and reflex areas in the hands that correspond to all the major organs, glands, and body parts. As shown here in the diagram.
